Travel Tips: What I packed for my Caribbean Getaway
Anytime of year is a good time for a reset, a much needed break. This year my way to unplug was spent during a winter getaway to the Dominican Republic – where I’m from. I love going to the mother land. It’s warm, inviting and home to some of the best beaches.
Since I was spending some days at the beach it was important to pack swimsuits, straw hats, sunnies, sun block and of course a few soft cover-ups to throw over a sexy swimsuit. I finally got to wear the beach cover up (and felt super chic) from Michael Star – $58 that came in my Summer 2016 Box of Style*.
* You can get similar items at a fraction of the cost by becoming a member of the coolest quarterly box curated by Rachel Zoe – Box of Style.
Travel Tip: Opt for multi-functioning pieces that double as a beach cover and dress. You look put together enough to go from beach/pool side to dinner.

My Swimsuit is a one piece that I’ve purchased from J Crew for two years in a row. What can I say – I love it. It has a gorgeous retro silhouette that is super flattering on an hourglass shape. I also like to have a one piece option.. it feels more glam than a two piece.
You can’t pack enough hats.. I was at the beach for a long weekend and kept it pretty casual and simple with this linen/cotton blend shirt from Zara and these yellow sandals from Banana Republic. The purse was also a Box of Style item..
Let’s face it. A full face of makeup while tanning on the beach or chilling pool side isn’t ideal.. so I kept a bare faced and used these products to keep the UV Rays at bay.
Clockwise from top left: 1. 100% Pure Coffee Bean Eye Cream is great for de-puffing the under eye area. 2. This color enhancing lip balm from Arrow is formulated with nourishing mango butter for protection and major hydration. 3. When it comes to sun protection this Broad Spectrum SPF 50 Sun Block from Skinceuticals is the best thing I’ve discovered. 4. One of the best lightweight moisturizers ideal for warm weather is this baby from Osea – it protects from environmental stresses.
I ended up getting a pedicure when I arrived and made sure to use my own color by Smith and Cult – Psycho Candy.
Frizzy hair Don’t care
Travel Tip - When picking a coconut opt for one that looks brown and old.. the water is much sweeter.
I used the only eyeshadow palette I packed on this trip.. the Persona Cosmetics Identity Palette to create this soft shimmery eye look. It was a no brainer to bring this baby.. the colors are gorgeous and super flattering on brown eyes. Also because this palette is such a great size and has enough colors to offer a pretty wide range of looks.
Used: Charming, Maverick and Seductive
On the face I kept it 100% Tarte – I used the Rain Forest of the Sea foundation and the Shape Tape since Tarte uses natural ingredients and the foundation is one of the lightest formulas with the best coverage.. I think so at lease. Of course I had to keep it waterproof on the mascara side so I went with – Lights, Camera, Splashes which holds a curl like no other.
Travel Tip: Condense your makeup by traveling with palettes that include multiple products like - blush, highlighter and bronzer in one like this Ambient Lighting Palette from Hourglass.
I couldn’t resist Duty Free and I picked up the La Mer Moisturizer – 1 oz. It retails for $170, but not having to pay tax on it helped.
Travel Tip: Save some money for Duty Free - where I like to shop pricier options since you skip on paying tax.
