The Ultimate Lip Maintenance Guide
There are times we tend to overlook our lips. We constantly move them around to talk, we pucker up for the ultimate selfie, we bite them when we’re nervous or mad, and a times lick them way too much. They get dried, cracked and I’m sure I’m not the only one guilty of peeling away the dead skin. Which is the worst thing we can do because the more we do it the more the drying and cracking occurs.
So, I’ve come up with a sweet ritual that I do 2-3 times a week. This will keep your lips super moist. Seriously my lips have not chapped or cracked since I started this. This treatment is really going to come in handy in the winter months.
This fool proof maintenance guide will ensure your lips stay super moist and plump with a major desire to be kissed. You’ve been warned.
What You’ll Need
Sugar Lip scrub
I personally love Bubblegum from Lush which I recently tried. It made me so nostalgic with the incredible smell and taste of candy it has. Really made the whole experience fun.
If you don’t get your hands on Lush’s lip scrub you can make your own. Simply mix brown sugar with coconut oil and a bit or lemon peel and there you have it. You can store this for up to a week in the fridge so mix in small batches.
Hydrating Lip Mask
When I discovered these Flashpatch Lip gels I knew I had to try them. I love sheet masks and eye patches so I knew I would love these, and I sure do. They leave my lips so plumped and soft. Best of all it’s a great treatment to do when prepping for makeup. After using these I get the most flawless makeup application on the lips. It’s pretty incredible.
Another alternative would be to use honey as a moisturizing mask. It works wonders, just stick it in the fridge for about an hour prior to using so it can harden and stay put longer.
Moisturizing Lip Balm
This is your post treatment moisture and daily maintenance as well. Any super moisturizing lip balm will do. But I can’t live without this all natural formula from Dr. Lipp. It’s my everything. I use it to prime my lips and at night as part of my evening skincare routine. It has the creamiest consistency and is one of the most versatile products I’ve used. It heals dry skin anywhere in the body; knees, elbows etc. It can even be used to tame brow hairs, to highlight cheekbones and to obtain a glossy eye look.
Three Easy Steps
- You want to start by removing dead skin with a sugar scrub. Sugar is great because it’s antibacterial and taste sweet. Make sure to scrub gently and in circular motions. Remove with a damp towel or eat.. whatever you fancy.
- After exfoliation it’s important to hydrate. So I like to use these amazing lip patches that really infuse your lips with moisture and goodness. Sit back relax scan your favorite IG pages and keep them on for as long as you like.
- That’s it. Simply finish with a lip balm of your choice.
